What can PRP therapy do for me?

PRP therapy has been used in sports medicine for many years, but has now become a popular cosmetic injectable treatment.  Due to its long association with medical procedures, people are often unaware of the aesthetic benefits of PRP so they often ask – What can PRP therapy do for me.

What is Platelet-rich-Plasma (PRP) Therapy?

PRP Therapy is a technique in which concentrated platelets obtained from the patient’s own blood, are used to regenerate specific tissues.  A blood sample is first drawn from the patient’s arm and then spun in a centrifuge, to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood.  PRP is rich in growth factors that help with healing.

What can PRP therapy do for me?

The regenerative qualities of PRP provide several benefits in aesthetic treatments.  It can boost the health and appearance of the skin, and assist with hair loss.

PRP therapy for facial rejuvenation

When PRP is injected into the skin it encourages collagen production and the new collagen adds volume to the skin and improves elasticity.  PRP also reduces scars and wrinkles.

PRP is often performed in combination with microneedling for optimal skin rejuvenation.  Microneedling also induces collagen production, so when done alongside PRP the skin regenerative effects are enhanced.  PRP with microneedling renews the health and appearance of the skin, resulting in glowing, youthful-looking skin.

PRP therapy for Hair Loss

PRP Therapy is also helpful for hair loss.  When injected into thinning areas of the scalp, the platelets release growth factors that stimulate the stem cells in the hair follicle.  PRP also increases blood circulation to the scalp and promotes hair growth.

Can You Get Filler Injected In Your Hands To Reduce Wrinkles?

Can You Get Filler Injected In Your Hands To Reduce Wrinkles?

Everyone knows that fillers can be used to minimize facial wrinkles and replenish lost volume, but can you also get filler injected into your hands to reduce wrinkles.  When it comes to skin care the hands are often overlooked, but the skin on the hands also ages over time.

Aging of the hands

Sun damage and a decrease in the natural fat cushions, are the major contributors to the aging of the hands.  The skin on the back of the hands is delicate and very thin, so when the fat cushions diminish, the tendons and veins become more visible.

Can you get filler injected in your hands to reduce wrinkles?

Yes, Radiesse is a dermal filler that is FDA cleared for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands.  It is the first and only filler approved for this purpose.  Radiesse is a popular dermal filler that consists of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA).  It is regularly used to volumize the skin in order to reduce wrinkles on the face.

Radiesse for hand augmentation

When used for hand augmentation, Radiesse is injected into the back of the hands, giving them a smooth, plump appearance.  Replenishing volume in the hands also makes the veins and tendons less visible, so the hands appear more youthful.

How many treatments do I need?

It typically takes only one Radiesse treatment to achieve the desired hand enhancement.

When will I see results with Radiesse?

Radiesse will immediately add volume to the back of the hands.

How can I get rid of brown spots?

How can I get rid of brown spots?

Have you ever wished you could get rid of those pesky brown spots on your skin and restore the clear, youthful complexion you once had.  The secret to getting rid of brown spots lies with chemical peels.

What causes brown spots?

Brown spots on the skin are most often a sign of sun damage, because they usually show up in areas that are constantly exposed to sunlight, such as the hands, face, and arms.  Too much sun can cause the skin to produce excess melanin (pigment that gives skin its color), causing it to darken in different areas.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a versatile skin rejuvenation treatment that treats a variety of skin concerns by removing the damaged outermost layer of skin.  Peels can be superficial, medium, or deep, depending on the condition being treated.

Treating brown spots with a chemical peel

Chemical peels are aesthetic treatments in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin, to strip away the outermost layer of dry, dull skin cells.  The skin eventually peels off, revealing clearer, smoother skin.

PCA Skin has formulated a peel solution that contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs).  AHAs such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, and citric acid, are very effective for removing brown spots, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

How many chemical peels do I need to see results?

A course of 4-6 treatments is normally recommended to remove brown spots.  Sessions are spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Is there any downtime associated with laser hair removal?

Is there any downtime associated with laser hair removal?

If you want to get rid of unwanted hair without shaving, waxing, or tweezing, laser hair removal is a dream come true.  Laser hair removal can give you the hair-free skin in all the right places.  But how does it work, and is there any downtime.

How laser hair removal works

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment in which laser energy is used to reduce unwanted hair. The laser emits pulses of energy that target the melanin (pigment) at the base of the hair follicle.  The pigment absorbs the light which damages the hair follicle, and prevents future hair growth.

Is there any downtime associated with laser hair removal?

There is typically no downtime after a laser hair removal session.  The treated area may be mildly red after treatment but this typically resolves within a few hours, so patients are generally able to resume normal activities.  After laser hair removal patients are advised to minimize direct sun exposure and use a broad spectrum sunscreen when going outdoors, as the treated skin will be very sensitive.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Depending on the laser technology being used laser hair removal may be slightly uncomfortable, but it is not painful.  The treatment is often described as feeling similar to having an elastic band snapped against the skin.

How many laser hair sessions will you need

Most patients need 4-6 treatments to achieve the desired hair reduction.  Sessions are spaced at least 4 weeks apart.
