How much does breast augmentation cost

How much does breast augmentation cost

Have you wanted bigger breasts for a long time, and finally decided to take the plunge?  You’re not alone. Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries in the US.  Women that undergo the procedure are generally satisfied and more confident after surgery.  But how much does breast augmentation cost?

How much does breast augmentation cost

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of breast augmentation surgery is $3,824, but the procedure can cost as much as $12,000.

The cost of breast augmentation is variable because there are several factors that can affect the final price, including the type of implants, surgery-related fees, and the surgeon’s fee.

Type of implants

Silicone and saline implants are the two main types of implants used for breast augmentation.  Silicone implants are a popular choice because they look a lot like natural breasts. However, they are more expensive than saline implants.

Surgery related fees

Surgery related fees such as the anesthesia fee, surgical facility fee, and the cost of post-surgery garments and medications, can all impact the cost of breast augmentation.

Surgeon’s fee

The level of experience of the surgeon influences the cost of breast augmentation, because highly experienced surgeons may charge more for their expertise.    However, when selecting a plastic surgeon for breast augmentation, it is always necessary to consider their certification, experience, and reputation for delivering successful outcomes, and not just cost.

If you are planning to have breast augmentation surgery, be sure to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon.  The surgeon will provide a detailed cost breakdown based on your specific requirements.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling has been trending in cosmetic circles lately, and for good reason.  It is a safe, minimally invasive procedure that treats a variety of skin concerns.  Microneedling has grown in popularity in recent years, thanks to innovative devices like Dermapen.   But what are the benefits of microneedling.

What is microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation treatment that improves the health and appearance of the skin.

Microneedling is performed using a pen shaped device that is fitted with tiny needles, which are used to create micro-injuries in the skin.  The micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural wound healing process.  Microneedling is a gentle, virtually painless treatment that requires very little downtime.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

  • Increases collagen and elastin

Microneedling increases the production of collagen and elastin, which both contribute to younger-looking skin.  Collagen makes skin plumper, and this helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars, and stretch marks.  Elastin boosts skin elasticity, making the skin tighter and more toned.

  • Promotes new skin cells

Microneedling stimulates the growth of new skin cells that improve the overall tone and texture of the skin.   The new skin cells restore the skin’s youthful glow and make it softer, smoother, and firmer.

  • Improves the effectiveness of topical skin care products

After microneedling, topical skin care products such as gels, creams, moisturizers, and serums, are able to penetrate deeper into the skin.  Consequently, they are absorbed more efficiently, and work more effectively.

How long is Recovery from a facelift?

How long is Recovery from a facelift?

If you are looking for a real, effective solution for visible signs of aging a facelift is certainly the ideal procedure.  However, people considering facelift surgery are often unsure about the recovery time.  Recovery from facelift surgery is quicker and more comfortable than it once was, thanks to the advances made in cosmetic surgery.

Facelift Surgery

A facelift or rhytidectomy typically addresses sagging skin in the lower third of the face, as well as wrinkles around the nose and mouth.  There are a variety of facelift procedures now being offered, so surgery can be customized to satisfy the aesthetic goals of each patient.

How long is recovery from a facelift?

Depending on the extent of the procedure, recovery from facelift surgery can take 1-2 weeks.

Recovery from a traditional or full facelift typically takes longer than recovery from a mid-facelift.  A traditional facelift addresses aging in the cheek area, neck and jawline, whereas the mid-facelift targets the midsection of the face, i.e. the lower eyelids, cheeks, and corner of the mouth.  Since the mid-facelift is less invasive, there is less swelling and bruising after surgery.  Consequently, patients are often able to return to work after one week.

What to expect after surgery

Most patients have bruising and swelling after facelift surgery, but the majority of the swelling resolves within 7-14 days.  There may also be some facial numbness, which will gradually diminish over several weeks.  Pain medication is usually prescribed for the first 2-3 days, to ease any discomfort.

Does botox last forever?

Does botox last forever?

Are you considering botox?  If so, botox is an excellent way to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.  It’s therefore not surprising that people all over the world are using botox to battle wrinkles, and rejuvenate their appearance.  But does botox last forever?

Botox cosmetic

Botox is made from botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.   It is typically used to treat dynamic wrinkles i.e. frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles.  One botox treatment is usually all that’s needed to see results, and the effects can be seen about 3-5 days after treatment.   When botox is injected by an experienced, qualified injector, the results look very natural (learn more).

Does botox last forever?

Botox is a temporary cosmetic injectable treatment so it doesn’t last forever.  The effects last approximately 3-4 months.  First time users of botox may experience less than average results, but results tend to last longer after repeated treatments.

Botox is a muscle relaxer that reduces the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contraction due to expressions such as frowning, smiling, and squinting.

When botox is injected into the muscles under the skin, it blocks the nerve signals to the muscles.  This reduces the activity of the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles to form, and relaxes facial wrinkles.  As a result, the face looks refreshed and more youthful after treatment.

When botox starts to wear off muscle activity will return, and wrinkles will start to reappear. Therefore in order to maintain the wrinkle reducing effects of botox, clients will have to get maintenance treatments (click here to learn more).

Will I be able to sit after a thigh lift?

Will I be able to sit after a thigh lift?

Do you have loose, sagging skin on your thighs that you’d like to get rid of?  A thigh lift will make the thighs tighter and firmer, and give them a toned, contoured appearance.  But what should you expect during recovery.

What is a thigh lift?

A thigh lift or thighplasty is a surgical procedure that contours the thighs, by removing excess skin and fat.  There are different techniques that can be used to perform a thigh lift, and the choice will depend on the amount of skin and fat that has to be removed.

Will I be able to sit after a thigh lift?

It typically takes 2-3 weeks to recover after a thigh lift.  Movement is usually restricted during this time, in order to minimize stress on the sutures.  As a result, you will not be able to sit for long periods for the first few weeks after surgery.  Patients are generally advised to use pillows to take the pressure off the legs when sitting.

You will need to get plenty of rest after thigh lift surgery, so that the incisions can heal properly.  It’s therefore essential to have help at home during recovery.

There will also be some swelling at the incision sites after surgery, but a compression garment is worn for up to 6 weeks to help minimize swelling.   Most patients are able to return to work after 10 days.

When will I see results?

It takes about 3-6 months to see final results after a thigh lift.

How much does breast reduction cost

The average cost of breast reduction is $5,680, according to 2018 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  However, costs can vary widely from the average due to factors such as the surgeon’s fee, complexity of the procedure, surgical facility fee, and location of the practice.

  • Surgeon’s fee

Surgeons that have significant experience generally charge more for their expertise.

  • Complexity of the procedure

The complexity of the procedure depends on the amount of skin and breast tissue that has to be removed.   Complex surgeries generally cost more.

  • Surgical facility fee

Breast reduction is usually less expensive when performed in an outpatient surgical facility rather than a hospital.  However, it is important to ensure that the facility is certified by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

  • Location of the practice

How long does laser tattoo removal take?

How long does laser tattoo removal take?

If you are considering laser tattoo removal, you will certainly want to know the duration of treatment, so that you can set clear expectations about the process.  The truth is, laser tattoo removal takes time, but it is still the best option available for clearing tattoos.

How laser tattoo removal works

The laser emits short pulses of energy that targets the tattoo, and shatters the ink into tiny particles.  The particles are then gradually processed through the body’s immune system and then removed.

How long does laser tattoo removal take?

It can take anywhere from 6-8 sessions to remove a typical tattoo.  However, there are several factors that can affect the duration of the process including ink colors used, size of the tattoo, type of ink applied, and skin type.

The laser technology used will also influence the time it takes to remove the tattoo, because some lasers are faster and more efficient than others.

Laser tattoo removal sessions are spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow the skin adequate time to properly heal, and also remove the ink that was broken down in the previous session.  Scheduling treatment sessions too close together could potentially damage the skin (click here to learn more).

Laser tattoo removal Consultation

It’s important to consult with a skilled, experienced laser tattoo removal practitioner, to ensure that you get the best possible results.  After assessing the unique characteristics of your tattoo, the practitioner will be able to estimate how long clearance is likely to take.

What types of chin augmentation exist?

What types of chin augmentation exist?

Are you thinking about changing the shape or size of your chin?  Chin augmentation may be the right procedure for you.   The chin is an essential feature of the face, so it’s not surprising that many people that are unhappy with their chin opt to undergo chin augmentation.  But what types of chin augmentation exist.

What is chin augmentation?

Chin augmentation or genioplasty is a surgical procedure that is typically performed for cosmetic reasons, to alter the shape or size of the chin.  It corrects a recessed or protruding chin and gives the chin a balanced, more attractive appearance.

What types of chin augmentation exist?

Chin implant surgery and sliding genioplasty are the main types of chin augmentation.

Chin implant surgery

Chin enhancement with implants is the most common type of chin augmentation.  During surgery a solid silicone implant is inserted above the chin bone via an incision made either in the mouth or under the chin.

Chin implant surgery improves the contours of the chin and jawline, and enhances facial harmony.  The chin implant will stay in position once healed, and does not usually need to be replaced.

Sliding genioplasty

Sliding genioplasty is the other type of chin augmentation.  It involves moving and repositioning the chin bone.  Sliding genioplasty is a surgical technique in which the jaw bone is moved in a specific direction and then secured with wires or screws.

Sliding genioplasty increases the projection and definition of the chin.  It is typically recommended for people that are not good candidates for chin implant surgery.

How Many Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?

How Many Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?

Do you have a tattoo that you would like gone?  Thanks to laser technology, it’s possible to make that unwanted tattoo disappear.  But how many tattoo removal sessions will you need to get rid of your tattoo.

How laser tattoo removal works

The laser emits pulses of light that selectively target the tattoo ink beneath the skin.  The ink absorbs the energy, and the resulting heat causes it to shatter into microscopic particles.  These particles are processed through the body’s immune system over the following weeks, so the tattoo gradually fades over time.

How Many Tattoo Removal Sessions Will I Need?

The laser tattoo removal process will differ for each client because each tattoo is unique.  However, the number of tattoo removal sessions required can range from 6-10, but this depends on several factors.   Sessions are spaced 4-8 weeks apart, so that the body has enough time to heal, and process the fragmented ink particles.

Patients should be aware at the outset that tattoo removal is a gradual process, as the immune system takes time to effectively remove the tattoo ink.

Below are some of the factors that affect the number of tattoo removal sessions required:

  • Laser technology used: Advanced lasers like the VersaPulse have several wavelengths that target different colors of tattoo ink, and can, therefore, remove tattoos more efficiently.
  • Ink colors:  Colors such as black and blue are easier to remove, while more vibrant colors like yellow and orange are more challenging to treat.
  • Tattoo size: Smaller tattoos generally require fewer sessions than larger ones.
