How Can I Treat Sun Damage?

Spending time outdoors relaxing at the beach or playing sports is good for your health, but all that sun exposure can lead to sun damage and early signs of aging.  So how can you treat sun damage?

What Causes Sun Damage?

Sun damage occurs because of excess exposure to the UV rays of the sun.  The effects of too much sun on the skin are varied, but wrinkles, fine lines, sunspots, rough texture, and uneven skin tone are some of the most common consequences.  Signs of sun damage are typically seen on areas most frequently exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, arms, and décolletage.

How Can I Treat Sun Damage?

Non-surgical treatments for sun damage include:

  • IPL Photorejuvenation

IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that uses wavelengths of broad-spectrum light to erase sun damage.  IPL treats a range of skin concerns including hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and age spots.  It also enhances the overall tone and texture of the skin, making it smoother, firmer, and more youthful.

  • Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Fractional laser resurfacing is also effective for reversing sun damage.  The fractional laser creates microscopic columns of thermal injury while leaving the areas around the microchannels intact. This process promotes collagen production resulting in tighter, clearer skin.

  • Medical Grade Skin Care Products

Medical grade skincare products have ingredients that nourish the skin and  neutralize free radicals, which makes them very beneficial for repairing and reversing sun damage.  The best skincare products also provide protection against the UVA and UVB rays of the sun.
