After eyelid surgery, patients are generally given personalized instructions to help ensure recovery goes as expected, and there are no complications. During follow-up visits the surgeon will evaluate how healing is progressing, and determine if any adjustments have to be made to the recovery plan.
Patients typically experience some pain, swelling, and bruising after eyelid surgery, but these symptoms generally resolve within 5-7 days. Blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and excessive tearing, are some of the other side-effects patients can expect to experience after surgery.
They are advised to rest the eyes as much as possible, and avoid eyestrain in the days following surgery. It’s also necessary to protect the eyes from dirt and glare by wearing the prescribed eyewear.
How long is eyelid lift recovery?
Recovery after eyelid lift varies among patients, and often depends on whether or not surgery is done on both eyelids. After full blepharoplasty, most patients are able to return to work within 7-10 days, and resume normal activities within 2-3 weeks. However, the surgeon may recommend more or less time off, depending on the specific circumstances of the patient.
