How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Do I Need?

Would you like to say goodbye to shaving, waxing, and tweezing?  You can, thanks to laser hair removal.   Laser hair removal is a safe, effective way to get rid of unwanted hair for good.  But how many treatments do you need before you can enjoy hair-free skin.

How laser hair removal works

The laser emits light that passes through the skin and targets the pigment deep within the hair follicle.  The light is converted into heat that is absorbed by the hair follicle, and this damages it and prevents future hair growth.  The treated hair subsequently falls out at the root over the following weeks.

Depending on the area being treated, it can take anywhere from 4-6 laser hair removal treatments to achieve optimal results.  Areas like the legs, underarms, and bikini area are easier to treat and require fewer treatments.

Hair grows in a three-phase cycle – growth, transition, and resting, and the laser energy can only treat the hair when it is in the growth phase.  That’s why multiple treatments are required for a single area.  Hair that is going through the other phases at the time of treatment are not affected by the laser energy.

Where does laser hair removal work best

Laser hair removal works best on the under arms, upper lip, bikini line, and legs, but it can be done on almost any area of the body.
