Tattoo Removal Laser Solutions

If you think getting a tattoo is uncomfortable, you might change your mind if you ever have to get one removed. Traditionally, tattoos were removed using methods such as dermabrasion or salabrasion. Although they are still in use today, these tattoo removal methods have been surpassed by tattoo laser removal treatment. The laser alternative results in minor patient discomfort, and works a lot faster than conventional methods.

Getting a tattoo inked is very easy, because it simply involves etching a mix of colored markings into the skin using a tattoo machine, or similar device. However, the indelible ink used in the process changes the pigment of the skin, making it a permanent fixture below the surface. For that reason, it often takes a lot more time and effort to get a tattoo removed.

Tattoo Removal

The ease with which a tattoo can be removed depends on a number of factors. This includes the location of the tattoo, how long it has been on the skin, and the colors used in the design. There are some colors like green and yellow, that are very difficult to remove, while there are others like black and blue, that can be removed with much less effort.

Tattoo laser removal involves the use of innovative laser technology to break up the ink pigments and blast tattoos away.  The lasers developed for tattoo removal use a technique called q-switching, and are known as q-switched lasers. These lasers work on a tattoo by emitting short bursts of high-energy pulses.

There are several variants of this device on the market, and among the most advanced is the Q-switched Nd: YAG by Alma lasers. The light emitted by the laser bypasses the skin’s surface layer and is instead absorbed by the tattoo pigment. The pigment breaks up and is then passed out via the body’s immune system. This ability to target the tattoo makes the Q-switched Nd: YAG particularly effective, as the surrounding skin is not damaged in any way.

Tattoo laser removal takes only a few minutes, but several sessions will be required to reduce the appearance of the etching.  The Q-switched Nd: YAG is a versatile, convenient, and safe laser that takes all the trouble out of tattoo removal.
