What Are The Benefits of Botox?

Are you interested in botox for wrinkle reduction?  That’s not surprising, since botox is well-known for its wrinkle-reducing benefits.  However, botox can also help with a variety of other medical concerns.  Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of botox.

What Are The Benefits Of Botox?

Reduces Dynamic Wrinkles

Botox (botulinum toxin type A) is an injectable treatment derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.  It is typically used to treat dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines.  Dynamic wrinkles develop as a result of the repeated movement of the facial muscles.

When botox is injected into the muscles, it prevents the release of signals from the nerves, and this stops the muscles from contracting.  As a result, the overlying wrinkles soften and become less visible over time.

Lifts A Droopy Brow

The brow descends from its natural position over time, as a result of aging and sagging of the skin.  When botox is injected into the brow area, it not only relaxes the forehead muscles, it also gives the brow a subtle lift.

Decreases Excessive Underarm Sweating

Although botox is primarily known for its anti-wrinkle benefits, it is also used to treat axillary hyperhidrosis or excessive underarm sweating.  Many men and women with excessive underarm sweating who have been unable to get relief using antiperspirants, have found botox to be a very effective treatment.

Botox works by blocking the chemical messenger responsible for stimulating the sweat glands.   It therefore prevents sweating in the area where it’s injected.

Botox also helps relieve migraines, reduces symptoms of overactive bladder, and decreases the effects of Bell’s palsy.

The results of botox are temporary and typically last 3-4 months.
