Will I be able to sit after a thigh lift?

Do you have loose, sagging skin on your thighs that you’d like to get rid of?  A thigh lift will make the thighs tighter and firmer, and give them a toned, contoured appearance.  But what should you expect during recovery.

What is a thigh lift?

A thigh lift or thighplasty is a surgical procedure that contours the thighs, by removing excess skin and fat.  There are different techniques that can be used to perform a thigh lift, and the choice will depend on the amount of skin and fat that has to be removed.

Will I be able to sit after a thigh lift?

It typically takes 2-3 weeks to recover after a thigh lift.  Movement is usually restricted during this time, in order to minimize stress on the sutures.  As a result, you will not be able to sit for long periods for the first few weeks after surgery.  Patients are generally advised to use pillows to take the pressure off the legs when sitting.

You will need to get plenty of rest after thigh lift surgery, so that the incisions can heal properly.  It’s therefore essential to have help at home during recovery.

There will also be some swelling at the incision sites after surgery, but a compression garment is worn for up to 6 weeks to help minimize swelling.   Most patients are able to return to work after 10 days.

When will I see results?

It takes about 3-6 months to see final results after a thigh lift.
